Nebraska Football!

So my parent came down this weekend! We went to the Nebraska vs. Baylor game. It was so much fun. The game started at 11:30 so we started our day by leaving the house at 7:15. We got down to Waco around 9ish and started tailgating. The North Texans for Nebraska had a tailgate spot. They had a big bus where the band played the cheerleaders were there and the Governor even showed up. Derek and Tanya met up with us as well. We had a blast that day!

The Governor was very nice and was having a good time.
Dad had a Chick-fil-A sandwich for lunch! Yummy!

New Wall Decor

I took off work last Friday to go to Canton, TX. There is something called First Monday Trade Days in Canton. It is like a great big flea market. It happens the weekend before the first Monday of every month. I decided to take Tanya to see what the big deal was and we had a blast. We got out of there with lots of stuff. Some great Christmas presents but some great wall decor. So I thought I would post some pictures of what I bought and some other projects I have been working on.

The other project I had been working on was our china hutch. It used to be a light wood but I really wanted it dark so I decided to take things into my own hands. I didn't know how it would turn out but I thought I would give it a shot. I went and bought a hand sander and some stain and went to town. It took a weekend to sand it down and a weekend to stain it. But it turned out really well. The other pictures and of other things that we bought and hung up.

My Birthday!

I can't believe another birthday has come and gone. The years seem to be going by too fast. My birthday was so great this year. It was on a Friday which for some reason made it even better. I think the fact that I knew it was the end of the week and I didn't have to get up and go to work the next day made it great. I couldn't have asked for better weather that day. It was a cool morning but it warmed up nicely to a perfect 72 degrees. When I got to work, Laura, a co-worker had made me carrot cake cup cakes (carrot cake is my favorite) with homemade icing. Sooo good! I had to work off campus in the morning as a part of a job fair for high schoolers. After we finished with the fair, my awesome boss, Kim took me out to PF Changs for lunch. It was delicious! Thank you Kim!

After lunch I went back to the office for a while to finish some things up and then left a little early for the day. It was such a wonderful day that I couldn't help myself! I got home and took Sophie for a run. She was such a good running partner that we ran a little extra. I got home and got ready for a night out.

Andrew hadn't gotten home from work so we were waiting on him to leave for dinner. He got home and gave me my gift. He thought he was so funny trying to pull a trick on me. It was a little funny but at the time I was a little disappointed. He gave me a little bag with a little box in it. I knew he was getting me jewelery for my birthday since all of mine was taken in our robbery. So, I opened the box and there were fake 1 carat earrings in the box. He said the look on my face was priceless. He ended up giving me a diamond necklace that is absolutely beautiful! Thank you honey, I love you!

We headed out for dinner at the Melting Pot with Derek, Tanya, Meagan and Reif. It was sooo good and we were all so full. I think the chocolate course was my favorite followed by the cheese! We were going to head out to Pete's Piano Bar after but we were so full, we ended up going to a wine bar for a drink and called it a night. We went home and had a piece of carrot cake that Meagan had made for me the night before. Thanks sweet girl! It was such a great birthday. Thanks to everyone that helped me celebrate and wished me a happy birthday. It was a greatday! PS. I forgot my camera and have no pictures of the celebration which sucks!

Happy 35th Wedding Anniversary Mom and Dad!

So my brothers and I and our families threw a surprised 35th wedding anniversary party for my parents. Their anniversary was on September 22nd and we threw the party on September 19th. We invited everyone over to surprise them and hung a wedding picture on the door for them to see when they walked up. They thought it was a Husker watching party but little did they know....They were so surprised and had no idea. My parents didn't even know that Andrew and I were going to be home for the weekend so boy were they surprised! Of course my mom was a little ticked that I had been home for almost 15 hours before she got to see me! It was so much fun to see all of my family and hang out. Mom and Dad, we hope you guys had fun and we love you so much!

Labor Day Late Post

So this is a really late post seeing that it is now October! I can not believe how the time has just been flying by this year! So over labor day weekend we ventured out to California to help Andrew's grandmas celebrate her 86th birthday. We had so much fun seeing family we haven't seen for 3+ years! We also had the chance to visit some of our close friends that live in CA as well. We went out to dinner with them and had a great night. It was great to get away for a few days from all the rush and busy life brings!

Summer is Gone....

First off, I can't believe that summer is over. It is the middle of September and I don't know where all the time went. Since my last post we have had much go on. Andrew was able to get some golfing in this summer. He went home to Nebraska to play in the annual Bulldog Classic Golf Tournament with his dad, brother and a family friend. He had a lot of fun and got to catch up with family and some old friends. I also went home for a weekend to see family and see one of my dear friends get married. It was a beautiful wedding and I got to catch up with some old friends I hadn't seen forever. I also got together with my whole side of the family, which as always, was a blast.

At the end of August we had a very scary thing happen. Our house was broken into and we lost a lot but the main thing was that our dogs were okay and that we weren't home. It happened in the late morning/early afternoon. I have to tell you that it took awhile for me to get back to a regular sleeping pattern. We have adjusted back to a normal routine. We also found out that the police in a different county served a warrant to a house and found stolen jewelery that were taken in daytime robberies. So I will be meeting with them and going through it to see if any of it is mine.

We took a trip to California to see Andrew's side of the family and celebrate with his Grandma, wishing her a happy 87th birthday. It was such a blast to see family we haven't seen for 5 years or so! We also visited our friends Colby and Andrew and their son Peter in Palos Verdes. We had such a great visit. That trip was a great way to end the summer and begin a busy fall. I will try to update the blog with some pictures.

Busy Summer

I feel like we have been so busy this summer. Probably our busiest summer since we have been married! Since May we have had something every weekend. It has been a blast and we have enjoyed having people visit, throwing parties and trying to get away for a bit. I know that I haven't posted any pictures of the house since we have settled in, so I have posted a few pictures of the rooms with furniture in it and also have a link to my shutterfly pictures. Not much more to report other than the summer is flying by so fast and school will start once again very soon. Until next time, have a fantastic weekend!

Andrew and I at the end of the night

This past weekend, Andrew and I visited Milwaukee, WI for a wedding. One of his law school buddies was getting married and it was a chance to do some much needed catch up with some old friends we haven't seen for two years. We had an awesome time. Kudos to John and Alyssa for putting on a fantastic party! We wouldn't have missed it for the world and it was so great to hang out and have a relaxing weekend. Andrew played at Whistling Straights Golf Course on Friday and Sunday and had one of the best times golfing he ever has had. I went out with the girls to a movie and got pedis! And of course we stayed out way to late every night and got up early but it was totally worth it to spend time with people we don't see enough. Here are some photos from the weekend.

Visitors come to Texas!

Andrew's brother and his family came to visit this past weekend. Ryan, Leah and Camryn traveled the 12 hours to come to the hot weather state. We had so much fun. The guys went golfing, and media room shopping. Leah and I found fabric for our dinning room chairs and re-covered them. We went to IKEA and to Cheddars and Chick fil a. So good! Camryn played outside and loved to have the run of the house. She even warmed up to the dogs by the end of their trip. Andrew and I had so much fun and hope they did too! Enjoy the pictures.

Just living

Well it has been a while since I last posted. I figured I better get to posting some pictures of the decorations thus far. Here are a few. I will take some more pictures of the house this weekend and get them posted. We have been pretty busy since we moved in so I haven't really had time to sit down.

Unpacking....

Will the unpacking ever end. Just Kidding. I have been off this week and unpacking and am almost done! I have a few boxes in the office but other than that it is just finding places for everything. I can't believe we have been in our house for almost a week! Crazy how time flies! I think we have all adjusted pretty well. The dogs love the big backyard and we hear Sophie venture upstairs periodically in the evenings. I think she is still getting used to so much space. Here are some pictures of the house painted and the dogs exploring.

Move Day!

Okay, so tomorrow is moving day. We are beyond excited but this week has been a bit of a challenge trying to pack up everything while we are still trying to live in the house. We have managed pretty well. The painter was also there this week and finished up on Wednesday. The colors look great and I will try to post some next week after we get our computer set up. The last thing to go in our the blinds and I'm actually waiting for a phone call right now. Hopefully they will get in this afternoon. Tomorrow will be such a busy day. The movers come in the morning and we have our other appliances delivered tomorrow along with our TV and Internet. Crazy how everything just happens all at once. So please pray everything goes well tomorrow and the rain holds off until the boxes are in our new house! I will try to post more next week.

It's Official, We are Homeowners.....Again!

Well, it is official, we are homeowners once again. We still can't believe this day is here and we have keys in hand. Kind of crazy how time flies... Now the next week and a half will be another crazy roller coaster. Today we went over to the house and met with the painter. He will start painting tomorrow.

We also took the dogs over to the house for the first time. I have to say it was so funny and I will post pictures later. They didn't know what to do with themselves! Sophie was the first to find the stairs and she went exploring. Maggie was right behind her. One thing is for sure, they wanted in the backyard. We didn't let them go back there today since the sod is still fairly new and it has been so rainy here lately. Andrew and I both said that if we feel like they follow us everywhere now just wait until we move into this house. They will be all over us and will freak out if they can't find us. It will be interesting.

Anywho, I wanted to just update everyone that we are through with this step and on to the next....moving! I will post pictures a little later. We couldn't be happier and thanks for being there on this journey!

Finishing Touches

Well, this will be the last post before we close on Wednesday. I can't believe that closing is finally here. It seems like just yesterday that we were THINKING about building a house and now it will be ours in just a few days. The finishing touches have been added in the last couple of weeks. The cedar beams in the master bedroom are up and the appliances went in. We have our final walk thru in two days and I can't believe it will be done. Overall the process has been so fantastic. We have really enjoyed it, the last few tiny details have been a bit frustrating but we are happy to be done. Now the real test begins...decorating! I can't wait but I know it will be a while before I can do that. We have a painter coming in to do some rooms downstairs. We are leaving the upstairs for now. The next two weeks will be reserved for packing. I'm sure that will be a challenge for both of us. Just finding the time to do it but we will get it done. We are looking forward to May 9th when we will finally be in our new home. We have enjoyed sharing this process with all of you and look forward to y'all (I know I will get crap about this from my family) coming over and spending some time in our new home! My parents came down last weekend to spend some time with us and help with things around the house. It was a great time. Some of the pics posted are from when we took them to Pete's dualing piano bar. Fun times....

Almost There!

We are almost there. we are getting so close to being done. The final touches have been put in. Andrew's parents visited this past weekend to help pack and to look at the house. The carpet is down and the landscaping is done. I can't believe that we are going to be moving in in less than a month! My parents will be coming this weekend. We have the first walk through this weekend and then we close in a week and a half! Here are just the latest pictures. I will keep updated but this should be it for a little while. Enjoy!
